Pakistan Condemns Indian Aggression, Vows to Defend Sovereignty Under International Law

Pakistan has strongly condemned India’s recent military strikes as “unprovoked aggression,” asserting its sovereign right to defend itself under international law.

The statement came from Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan following Indian attacks on the night of May 7, which Islamabad says directly violated its territorial integrity.

“India’s actions are not only a threat to Pakistan but to regional peace as a whole,” Khan stated. He emphasized that Pakistan had chosen a diplomatic path, offering a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident. However, India rejected peaceful solutions and instead launched direct military action.

Calling it a “deliberate attempt to destabilize the region,” Khan accused India of warmongering and disregarding international laws. He added, “Pakistan has shown maximum restraint, but we reserve every right to defend our sovereignty under the United Nations Charter.”

Khan also accused India of using misinformation and social media propaganda as a pretext for its attacks. “Is it acceptable for one country to bomb another just based on online narratives?” he questioned.

India reportedly used drones to strike multiple Pakistani cities, causing damage to civilian infrastructure, including sections of the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project. Pakistan called the strikes reckless and illegal, warning of their impact on water supply and public welfare.

Khan criticized India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that such a move endangered Pakistan’s agriculture and violated international agreements. “India cannot simply walk away from a treaty that has lasted decades,” he warned.

The spokesperson also pointed to India’s historical obstruction of investigations into major attacks like those in Mumbai and Pathankot, and cited the Kulbhushan Jadhav case as evidence of Indian-sponsored terrorism.

Accusing India of trying to suppress dialogue and ignore United Nations resolutions, Khan reminded the global community that it was India that internationalized the Jammu and Kashmir issue in the first place.

He called on the world to act before the situation escalates further. “The international community must hold India accountable. The region cannot afford another war,” he concluded.
