Canada Work Visa Protector Fee in Pakistan – May 2025

09 May, 2025 17:19

Pakistani citizens planning to work in Canada must obtain a valid work permit and have it registered with the Protectorate of Emigrants (PE) to ensure legal protection abroad.

A Canadian work visa, commonly referred to as a work permit, grants foreign nationals temporary employment rights in Canada. There are two main categories of work permits issued:

Open Work Permit:

This visa enables individuals to work with any employer in Canada without a pre-arranged job offer. It is often granted to spouses and dependents of skilled workers, graduates from eligible Canadian institutions, and select other applicants.

Employer-Specific Work Permit:

This type of visa ties the holder to a particular employer who has secured the permit for them. It limits employment strictly to the approved employer.

To secure legal protection while working abroad, Pakistani workers are required to obtain a “protector stamp” on their passport. Once stamped, the worker is entitled to several benefits:

  • Full legal protection under Pakistani labor laws
  • Access to support and assistance from the Pakistani embassy or consulate in Canada
  • Legal help through the Community Welfare Attaché in case of contract violations
  • Assistance for families facing difficulties at home

Protector Fee for Canada Work Visa (May 2025)

For Pakistani citizens employed directly in Canada, the current protector fee totals Rs9,200, broken down as follows:

  • Rs4,000 – OPF Fund
  • Rs2,500 – Insurance Premium
  • Rs2,500 – Registration Fee
  • Rs200 – OEC Fee

This mandatory process ensures that overseas Pakistani workers receive legal protection and consular support while working in Canada.
