Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, arrived in Islamabad on Friday as part of a diplomatic mission to help reduce rising tensions between Pakistan and India.
According to diplomatic sources, al-Jubeir is expected to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit. He will also hold talks with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the regional security situation and explore peaceful solutions to the growing standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The visit to Islamabad follows al-Jubeir’s earlier trip to New Delhi, where he reportedly urged Indian officials to show restraint and open the door to dialogue. The Saudi government is believed to be playing an active mediating role, aiming to calm the situation after recent military confrontations and rising war rhetoric from both sides.
Observers see Saudi Arabia’s involvement as a sign of global concern over the escalating crisis, particularly after cross-border attacks and growing fears of further escalation.
Saudi Arabia has long maintained diplomatic ties with both countries and is now using that influence to push for regional peace and stability.
