Deputy PM Dar confirms Pakistan, India agree to ceasefire
Pakistan and India have agreed to stop fighting immediately. This was confirmed on Saturday, May 10, 2025, by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The news brings relief after many days of high tension between the two countries.
Ishaq Dar made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He said, “Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. We hope this will pave the way for broader diplomatic engagement and regional stability.”
The ceasefire agreement came after late-night talks. These talks were helped by the United States. Former U.S. President Donald Trump also shared the news. He posted online that both countries had reached a deal after “a long night of U.S.-mediated talks.”
This is one of the most serious military situations between India and Pakistan in recent years. Both countries had used heavy weapons and military aircraft. People on both sides of the border were scared and had to leave their homes in some areas.
The agreement is seen as a major step towards peace. Many experts believe this could open the door for more talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Leaders from both sides are now being urged to sit at the table and solve their problems through dialogue, not war.
