Michaela Boor was struck by falling bricks on Burdett Road in March 2018
A construction company and four men are now facing serious charges. This is after a woman named Michaela Boor died seven years ago in a tragic accident in east London. She was hit by a heavy load of bricks that fell from a crane.
The accident happened on March 27, 2018, at the corner of Burdett Road in Mile End, east London. A pallet of bricks, weighing around two tonnes, dropped from a crane. The bricks struck 30-year-old Michaela Boor. She was rushed to the hospital but sadly died the next day.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has charged Higgins Homes PLC with corporate manslaughter. The company also faces a charge under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Four men are also being charged. They are:
Thomas Anstis, 68
Stephen Coulson, 68
Dawood Mann, 59
Alexander McInnes, 32
Each man has been charged with gross negligence manslaughter. They also face health and safety law charges.
They will appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 16, 2025.
The Metropolitan Police said that specialist officers are still supporting Michaela’s family. The family has waited for justice for over seven years.
Higgins Homes is a construction company. It says it works on new buildings and restoration projects across London, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Sussex.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS’s special crime division, reminded the public that this is an active case. He said that everyone involved has the right to a fair trial. He also warned against online posts or comments that could affect the legal process.
