Karachi witnessed a troubling series of violent incidents that left at least four individuals dead and several others injured, including a young schoolgirl, in a wave of citywide gun violence and alleged police encounters.
In Nazimabad’s Gol Market area, tragedy struck when Rashid, a property agent, was gunned down while dropping off his 10-year-old daughter at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School. The girl, dressed in her school uniform, was critically injured. Police stated, “The assailant — an old man with a white beard — was hiding near the school gate.” The attacker shot the girl first, then killed Rashid. Authorities suspect personal enmity as the motive and are reviewing CCTV footage for leads.
Elsewhere, near NIPA Chowrangi on Rashid Minhas Road, Kamran Abbas was fatally shot in what appeared to be a robbery. Police reported that “armed attackers opened fire as he offered resistance.” Evidence collection and surveillance footage review are underway.
In North Nazimabad, two brothers were injured when robbers opened fire during a failed attempt to snatch their motorcycle.
A chilling crime unfolded in FB Area Block 14, where police discovered the tortured body of Khawar Anjum, a hakim from Mirpurkhas. Shockingly, his sons Ibrahim and Afzal were allegedly transporting the body in a bag on a motorcycle when caught. Police confirmed, “The victim was living with his sons in a madrassa room.”
Two suspected criminals also died in separate encounters. In Sherpao Colony, Landhi, a botched robbery ended when one robber was accidentally shot by his accomplice during a struggle with locals. A woman was wounded in the chaos. “Police recovered stolen items and weapons.”
In Jahangirabad, a suspect was killed during a police pursuit after opening fire on officers. His accomplice managed to flee, but “a weapon and motorcycle were found at the crime scene.”
The spate of crimes has reignited concerns about law and order in Karachi as citizens demand urgent action and enhanced security.
