Congress Leader Acknowledges India’s Humiliating Defeat in Operation Bunyan Marsoos

23 May, 2025 11:21

The recent historic defeat of Indian forces in Operation Bunyan Marsoos has ignited sharp criticism against the Modi government from opposition leaders.

Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army, condemning the government’s defense policies and war strategy. Wadettiwar described Modi’s approach as a complete failure, pointing to India’s expensive defense purchases that have not translated into battlefield success.

Highlighting Pakistan’s use of cheap drones against India, Wadettiwar accused the government of wasting billions on costly weaponry while failing to counter inexpensive threats effectively. He further claimed that China supplied Pakistan with 5,000 drones, exposing critical vulnerabilities in India’s defense system, while Modi’s government continued its lavish spending.

According to the Congress leader, the government fired a missile costing $1.5 million to shoot down just 15,000 drones, illustrating the inefficiency of India’s response. Wadettiwar said India’s defense forces have been left helpless against the low-cost but large-scale drone attacks by Pakistan.

He also alleged that Pakistan destroyed three to four Indian Rafale jets during the conflict, yet the Modi government has maintained a “criminal silence” on these losses. Wadettiwar questioned why the government is hiding the fallout of the Rafale deal, despite earlier promises and slogans about national security.

Defense experts have echoed these criticisms, warning that Modi’s arrogance has jeopardized the country’s security. They emphasized that expensive weapons alone cannot compensate for a flawed strategy, which they say has failed disastrously in this conflict.
