Kuwait Resumes Visa Issuance to Pakistanis

24 May, 2025 18:02

Kuwait has officially resumed the issuance of various visa categories for Pakistani citizens, including work, family visit, dependent, tourist, and commercial visas. The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, on Saturday.

He highlighted that this decision reflects Kuwait’s intent to strengthen bilateral ties with Pakistan and meet its growing labor demands by welcoming Pakistani workers.

As part of the initiative, plans are underway to bring 1,200 Pakistani nurses to support Kuwait’s expanding healthcare sector. “An initial group of 125 nurses was slated to arrive last week but faced delays due to housing challenges. Special teams are actively resolving the issue, and we expect the nurses to arrive in the coming days,” Dr. Iqbal said.

Visa approvals for Pakistani citizens began in May 2025, reopening crucial avenues for employment and family reunification after a long gap. The move marks a significant development in travel and labor exchange between the two nations.

Dr. Iqbal further shared that both countries are close to finalizing a new labor memorandum of understanding (MoU), which aims to facilitate smoother worker movement and improve cooperation. “Some provisions are already being implemented ahead of the formal signing,” he noted.
