In a controversial development, the Indian Army has reportedly detained 18 Sikh soldiers for allegedly challenging the official account of the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a report by Republic TV, the arrested soldiers are expected to face court-martial proceedings on charges of insubordination and refusal to participate in military operations.

The crackdown comes after the Modi government decided to take legal action against the soldiers, who are accused of defying orders and posting critical remarks on social media.
The social media posts in question reportedly dismissed the Pahalgam incident as a “false flag operation,” suggesting that it was orchestrated to discredit Pakistan. The soldiers also allegedly refused to be involved in what they described as a politically driven mission.
In a related incident, legal action has been initiated against a 27-year-old junior doctor in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The doctor allegedly distributed sweets in a hospital on April 23—just a day after the Pahalgam attack—reportedly in celebration of the incident, prompting authorities to press charges.
