Hannah Brookhouse, Daughter of Drug Kingpin, Banned from Driving After Drug Driving Arrest

02 June, 2025 15:00

Hannah Brookhouse, 27, the daughter of convicted drug trafficker Richard Brookhouse, has been banned from driving for 12 months after being caught behind the wheel while under the influence of cocaine and cannabis.

Police stopped Hannah’s Audi Q3 around 1pm on March 10 on Museum Street, in her hometown of Warrington, Cheshire. Officers noticed suspicious behaviour and carried out a roadside drug test. The result came back positive for cocaine.

She was arrested and taken to the police station where a blood test confirmed 109 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood—more than double the legal limit of 50mcg/l. BZE is a chemical found in the body after using cocaine.

Claimed Drugs Were Taken Days Earlier

Representing herself at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, Hannah claimed she wasn’t high at the time of driving. She said she had taken the drugs days earlier and did not realise they would still be in her system.

“I was not on drugs behind the wheel of the car. I know it’s not an excuse, but it was still in my system,” she admitted. “I know I was stupid for doing that.”

Sentencing and Financial Burden

The court fined her £461, and she was also ordered to pay £269 in court costs and surcharge. Brookhouse revealed she had just financed her car for £600 a month and was now struggling with how to get to work in Manchester.

“I’ve got to find other ways to get to work,” she told the court.

Family’s Criminal Past

The case has drawn attention due to Hannah’s family background. Her father, Richard Brookhouse, was jailed for 20 years in 2014 for running a £100 million cocaine empire—all while already serving a 22-year sentence for earlier drug offences.

From prison, he operated a major drug smuggling ring, using day release to meet with associates in Liverpool and Manchester. Drugs were transported from France, disguised as part of fishing trips.

Her mother, Diane Brookhouse, was jailed for 14 years for her role as his criminal aide. She spent their illegal earnings on Botox, luxury haircuts, handbags, and other expensive items—while also claiming benefits.

Diane appeared in court to support her daughter during the latest hearing.

Judge’s Final Warning

Despite having no prior convictions, the magistrates were firm. They reminded Hannah that driving under the influence is a serious offence with potential risks to herself and others.
