Weather Alert: Western Wind System to Bring Rain, Hailstorms Across Pakistan

Lahore— A new western wind system is forecast to enter Pakistan today, potentially triggering widespread rain and hailstorms across several regions of Pakistan.

According to the Meteorological Department, from today through Thursday, areas including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir in Pakistan are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms. Moist winds from the northeast and a western system moving into the upper parts of the country are expected to fuel these weather conditions.

Starting this evening, intermittent rain and hailstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mianwali. Similar conditions are also expected in Sargodha, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, and Lahore.

Thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast for Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral through June 5. The weather system will likely affect other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well, including Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad.

Between June 7 and June 9, strong winds and further rainfall are expected in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, and Mansehra, with various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also at risk of thunderstorms and hailstorms. Meanwhile, southern Punjab may see dust storms and gusty winds during this period.
