Severe Earthquake May Hit Karachi in Coming Days: ENRT
Karachi: The Earthquake News and Research Center (ENRC), a private organization, has raised concerns about the possibility of a severe earthquake striking Karachi in the coming days.
During a press conference held at the National Press Club Islamabad, ENRC CEO Muhammad Shehbaz Laghari urged authorities and the public not to overlook the recent seismic activity in Karachi. He cautioned that while smaller tremors may reduce the likelihood of a major quake, the risk of a stronger earthquake occurring between Thursday night and Saturday night remains.
Laghari addressed criticism directed at the organization, stating that ENRC is often accused of spreading fear and panic. However, he clarified that their intention is to promote preparedness by issuing early warnings to prompt preventive action.
He further expressed disappointment over the lack of support within the country, claiming that despite facing discouragement at home, the organization continues to receive interest and collaboration offers from international entities.
Laghari also asserted that the ENRC is the world’s first research center to issue early earthquake warnings, pointing to their YouTube channel “EQQN” as evidence of their work in the field.
