Killer dad Travis Decker is seen in haunting new doorbell footage

05 June, 2025 12:14

An Army veteran named Travis Decker, 32, is on the run after police say he killed his three young daughters. The tragedy happened in Washington state. A major manhunt is now in progress.

Travis picked up his daughters Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia (5) on Friday, May 30, for a three-hour visit. He never brought them back. Their mother, Whitney, reported them missing that night.

On Monday, June 2, police found the girls’ bodies at a remote campsite near Leavenworth, about 38 miles from their mother’s home. The scene was heartbreaking. The girls had plastic bags over their heads and zip ties on their wrists. Police believe they were killed by asphyxiation.

Doorbell Footage Shows Decker Days Before the Crime

New video footage from a Ring doorbell camera shows Decker just days before the incident. He was seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt and dark shorts. He had long black hair tied in a ponytail, a goatee, and tattoos on his arms. His eyes were covered by sunglasses in some older photos.

Travis Decker’s Background and Mental Health Issues

Decker served in the U.S. Army starting in 2012 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. Later, he joined the Washington Army National Guard and reached the rank of sergeant. He also completed advanced combat and survival training.

Authorities say Decker had mental health issues. His ex-wife told police that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder but wasn’t taking his medication. She also said he refused to follow a court-ordered parenting and counseling plan.

Despite their separation, Whitney never thought Decker would harm the girls. She said they loved him and enjoyed their time with him. But she had noticed recent struggles in his behavior. On the day he picked them up, he was quieter than usual, which was not normal for him.

Homelessness and Parenting Concerns

Decker didn’t have a permanent home. He stayed at hotels, campgrounds, and sometimes even inside his truck. Whitney once said the girls had to sleep at a National Guard armory, which worried her. She also shared that her daughters would return crying or upset after visits.

In a past court document, she said, “I have bent over backwards to help their relationship, but I can’t let them live in unsafe conditions.”

Police Search and Public Alert

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is working with Wenatchee Police, U.S. Marshals, Border Patrol, and Homeland Security to find Decker. A judge has issued a no-bail arrest warrant. Authorities say Decker is dangerous and should not be approached. He has strong wilderness survival skills and has lived off-grid for months before.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for any tip that leads to his arrest. People with information are urged to call 911 immediately.
