Budget 2025-26: Pakistan likely to slash taxes on Makeup Products

According to reliable sources, the next fiscal year’s budget may bring significant tax reductions on makeup and beauty products. It is expected that taxes and duties on over 7,000 imported items, including makeup goods, raw materials, and essential tools, could be lowered.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reportedly requested a reduction in regulatory duties on imported items. This demand covers more than 7,000 products, including parts, raw materials, and necessary equipment.

Specifically, imported makeup items such as rouges, powders, eyeliners, mascaras, makeup kits, and face powders may see a duty reduction of 2 to 5 percent. Similarly, imported makeup tools, eyeshadows, lip glosses, face shiners, makeup base creams, perfumes, and body sprays are likely to benefit from the tax cuts.

Other personal care items like imported lotions, creams, purses, sunglasses, artificial hairpieces, hair colors, hair lotions, and creams may also experience a reduction in duties by 2 to 5 percent.

Additionally, imported branded shoes, clothes, belts, shaving products, briefcases, travel bags, and handbags might also have their import duties decreased by the same margin.

This move is seen as a positive step, particularly for women consumers, offering some financial relief on beauty and personal care products in the coming budget.
