Suzuki Alto price likely to increase after Budget 2025-26

Suzuki Alto now available in easy monthly installments

The government is planning to increase the withholding tax on buying new cars, which could lead to higher prices for all vehicles, even small ones like those under 850cc.

At present, small cars enjoy a lower sales tax of 10% to 12.5%, but the government now wants to bring all locally assembled vehicles, including smaller cars, under the standard 18% sales tax.

According to the finance minister, this change is part of the new budget proposal aimed at increasing revenue.

Using car price data from Pak Suzuki, the new prices for cars like Suzuki Alto could rise by as much as Rs120,000 to Rs180,000, depending on the variant.

This proposed tax increase could push up the prices of budget-friendly cars, making it harder for people to afford new vehicles.

The automobile industry in Pakistan is already struggling due to inflation and low sales, and this move may make things worse. Even with promotions and discounts, many buyers are unable to afford new cars, and if the taxes go up, sales may fall even further.
