World Urges Restraint as Israel Strikes Iran

13 June, 2025 19:49

Israel launched a large-scale airstrike on Iran, hitting more than 100 military and nuclear sites. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 20 top Iranian commanders, including Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of Iran’s Aerospace Force. The strikes targeted key facilities and leadership bases in what Israel called a necessary move to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded strongly, warning that Iran will make Israel regret the attack. He called the strikes a crime and promised a powerful response from the Iranian nation and its armed forces.

The attack sparked immediate global concern. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged both sides to exercise maximum restraint, warning of the dangers of further conflict. Former U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that Iran must never develop a nuclear bomb and expressed hope for a return to negotiations.

Russia condemned the airstrikes as unacceptable and unprovoked, while China expressed deep concern about the situation and called for peace and stability. The European Union and countries like France, Germany, and the UK also urged calm and stressed the importance of diplomatic efforts to prevent more violence.

Several Middle Eastern countries reacted sharply. Hamas and Hezbollah described the strike as a serious threat to regional peace. Iraq, Qatar, and Turkey condemned Israel’s actions, while Jordan closed its airspace to avoid being drawn into the conflict. Yemen’s Houthi rebels backed Iran’s right to respond by any means necessary.

The world is now watching closely as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to rise. Many fear that if not controlled, this conflict could lead to a wider war in the region.
