Iran’s Military Leadership Remains Resilient Amid Heavy Losses
Iran Military Leadership Losses
A major military confrontation has erupted between Iran and Israel, with both countries launching missile strikes and air attacks in a dangerous escalation of regional tensions.
The conflict began after Israel launched its largest-ever air offensive on Iranian soil, targeting nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and top military officials. Iran responded by launching a wave of over 150 missiles and drones in an operation called “True Promise 3”, hitting several Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdod, and Beersheba.
High Casualties and Strategic Losses
Iran confirmed the martyrdom of key commanders including IRGC Chief General Hossein Salami and Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s top military official. Several nuclear scientists and 78 civilians, including women and children, were also killed in the Israeli strike.
In response, Iran struck back with hypersonic and ballistic missiles, hitting Israel’s nuclear research center and damaging a 50-story building in Tel Aviv. Over 80 Israelis were injured and 2 killed, despite Israel’s defense systems intercepting many projectiles.
Israel Plans More Strikes, Warns Iran
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and military chief Eyal Zamir vowed continued strikes, saying “Tehran will burn” if Iran continues to target Israeli cities. Israel also announced Operation Rising Lion, aiming to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
The Israeli Air Force reportedly plans new air raids on Tehran and Tabriz, with reports already emerging of explosions at military sites like Shahid Fakuri Airbase and Mehrabad Airport.
Global Reactions and Rising Tensions
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have strongly condemned Israel’s attacks.
The Pakistani National Assembly passed a resolution in support of Iran’s right to defend itself.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called Israel’s strike “unprovoked” and “highly irresponsible.”
Iran warned the U.S., U.K., and France not to support Israeli operations or face attacks on their regional bases and ships.
The U.S. military reportedly helped intercept Iranian missiles headed for Israel but claimed no direct involvement.
Nuclear Talks Stalled, Oil Prices Surge
Scheduled U.S.-Iran nuclear talks in Oman have been thrown into doubt after the airstrikes. Iran now calls the talks “meaningless,” accusing the U.S. of siding with Israel.
Meanwhile, oil prices surged over 10%, reaching their highest levels in five months, triggering global economic concerns.
Khamenei Vows Harsh Revenge
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned Israel’s strikes, warning that the regime has “sealed a painful fate for itself.” He vowed a harsh and continued response.
