Karachi Rain Update; Light Rain Brings Relief from Heat in Karachi – More Showers Expected Today

KARACHI – June 16, 2025 (Monday): Light rain and drizzle in various parts of Karachi on Sunday evening brought much-needed relief from the recent spell of heat and humidity. According to reports from national media, the city experienced cooler and pleasant weather conditions following the short but refreshing showers.

Rainfall was reported in several neighborhoods including Surjani Town, New Karachi, and Gulshan-e-Maymar. In Orangi Town and Baldia Town, clouds hovered with light rain recorded.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that the humidity level in Karachi stood at 45% on Monday morning. The department has forecast more rain during the night, with chances of light to heavy showers across different areas of the city.

Westerly Weather System Enters Karachi

Earlier, the PMD had predicted the arrival of a new westerly system into the country, bringing rainfall especially to the outskirts of Karachi.

The impact of the system was already visible on Sunday, with drizzle and cooler winds reported in Sohrab Goth, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Surjani. Meanwhile, dusty winds were observed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and nearby localities.

Karachi Weather Forecast for Next 24 Hours

The weather department expects partly cloudy skies and hot and humid conditions to continue during the day. However, it also mentioned the possibility of thunderstorms and rainfall in some areas on Monday and Tuesday.

The forecast suggests that Karachi could receive light to moderate showers in the next 24 hours, improving overall weather conditions further.
