Supreme Court Rejects Pleas Against Transfer of Judges to Islamabad High Court
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed petitions challenging the transfer of judges from three high courts to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
A five-member bench, led by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and including Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Shahid Bilal Hassan, Salahuddin Panhwar, and Shakeel Ahmed, heard the petitions filed by five IHC judges, the Karachi Bar Association (KBA), and the IHC Bar Association.
The petitions, filed in February under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, were brought by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, and Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz. The judges contested the appointment of Justice Sarfraz Dogar as the acting chief justice of the IHC and the transfer of judges from other high courts.
The apex court dismissed all pleas, upholding the transfers and appointment.
