Karachi Weather Update: Light Rain and Clouds, Monsoon Starts Soon
Karachi experienced light drizzle early this morning, bringing slight relief from the heat in areas like Lyari, Mauripur, and Clifton. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this light rain is expected to continue during the day, with a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
The sky remains mostly cloudy, with winds blowing at a speed of 19 km/h from the west. Later in the day, gusts of up to 35 km/h from the south-southwest and west-southwest are likely. Morning humidity was recorded between 70–80%, which is expected to drop to 55–65% by evening.
The maximum temperature today is expected to reach between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be around 29°C.
According to the PMD, a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea is pushing moist air into Sindh, which is likely to keep drizzle chances in place until June 23. A pre-monsoon weather pattern is active across the region, raising the chances of thunderstorms in the coming days.
From June 22 to 24, Karachi’s weather forecast suggests overcast skies with light drizzle possible during early mornings and late nights. The temperature is expected to remain between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, with strong winds and medium to high humidity levels.
The Met Office has also said that Karachi’s first monsoon spell may begin around June 25 and could continue into early July. People are advised to keep track of daily weather updates, carry rain gear when going out, and stay well-hydrated due to ongoing humidity.
