Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter Service Public Relations (DG ISPR), emphasized that the authority to declare jihad rests solely with the state, and no individual or group has the right to make such a declaration.
During his visit to Karachi, he met with representatives from various religious and social communities. These meetings were met with a warm reception, and the participants expressed strong solidarity and appreciation for the army’s outreach efforts.
The DG ISPR underlined that citizens of all religions in Pakistan are equal under the Constitution and are entitled to full rights. He stressed that national unity is achieved through equality and social harmony.
He also pointed out that India is supporting terrorism within Pakistan, but assured that the Pakistan Army is countering these threats using advanced military strategies. He described racial and ethnic hatred as a form of ignorance and emphasized the importance of national cohesion.
According to him, unity among Pakistanis is the key to resilience, and no external force can defeat a nation that stands together. He reiterated that the declaration of jihad is a sovereign decision that only the state is empowered to make.
