How Pakistanis Can Create a PayPal Account in 2025 – Full Guide

26 June, 2025 10:35

PayPal is a globally recognized online payment system originally launched by Elon Musk as X.com. It quickly became one of the leading digital payment platforms, replacing traditional cash transactions with convenient electronic transfers.

However, Pakistan is still not on the official list of countries supported by PayPal. Despite this, over 200,000 freelancers, 7,000 registered SMEs, and countless online sellers in Pakistan are eager for access to this essential service. Until PayPal officially arrives, there are alternative ways that Pakistanis can access its services—though unofficially.

How to Create a PayPal Account in Pakistan

To begin, you’ll need to acquire a UK-based address—this typically costs around £12 per month. This address allows you to create a presence in the UK, which is essential for registration.

Next, order a virtual UK SIM card. Services like Giffgaff, Vyke, Dingtone, or TextNow can provide UK numbers that work internationally.

With a UK address and number, you can now register a UK-based Limited Company through HMRC.gov.uk. This step also costs about £12.

For payments and registration fees, use either a Pakistani debit/credit card or the UBL Wiz Virtual Card which is accepted internationally.

Afterward, apply for a UK bank account. Options like TransferWise (now Wise) or Monzo allow account setup using your Pakistani passport, UK address, and UK number. Once your account is active, perform a small transaction to activate the debit card.

Now, purchase a UK-based VPS (Virtual Private Server)—this provides a UK IP address for secure and stable access. This VPS usually costs around $12 monthly.

Finally, apply for a PayPal Business Account using your UK VPS. Log in, enter your UK company and bank details, and upload verification documents like your company registration and bank statement.

Important Note:

This method is unofficial. PayPal may suspend your account if they detect a mismatch between your physical and registered location.

While PayPal is still not available officially in Pakistan, this workaround offers hope to freelancers, business owners, and digital workers across the country.
