27 June, 2025 10:23

Cloudy skies continue to blanket Karachi, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rainfall in the city today, especially during the evening. Light to moderate showers are expected to continue through Saturday and Sunday.

Following overnight rainfall, Karachi experienced pleasant weather on Friday, providing relief from the recent intense heat. The PMD reported the highest rainfall in Gulshan-e-Hadeed (17mm), followed by Shahrah-e-Faisal (12mm), Old City Area (9mm), Defence Phase 2 (7.8mm), Karachi Airport (5mm), and University Road (2mm).

Officials have cautioned residents about the risk of urban flooding over the weekend due to continuous showers. According to the weather department, the first monsoon spell is expected to last until July 2, with a second spell likely to begin on July 5.

The maximum temperature today is expected to reach 32°C, while the current temperature is 30°C, with winds blowing from the northeast at 8 km/h.

Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Rehabilitation and PDMA Chairman, Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman, has instructed officials to stay alert and monitor the rain situation closely. He directed Rescue 1122 teams to ensure a timely response in emergencies and added, “avoid creating any hassle for the public.” The minister also stressed that “maximum relief and facilities must be provided to citizens affected by the rain.”
