Suzuki Alto Prices Set to Rise Due to GST and New Taxes

Suzuki launches Alto exchange program with HBL
In a recent move, the federal government has increased the General Sales Tax (GST) on small vehicles. This change affects cars with engine capacities up to 850cc, including popular models like the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every. The GST has gone up from 12.5% to 18%, leading to a noticeable price hike.
“Among the vehicles affected by this change, the Suzuki Alto price is expected to increase significantly.” In addition to this, a new Climate Support Levy (CSL) of 1% has also been introduced. This levy aims to promote greener transportation and reduce emissions from fuel-powered vehicles.
According to early estimates, Suzuki Alto prices may increase by Rs. 167,861 to Rs. 186,446, depending on the variant. The Suzuki Every is also seeing a jump of around Rs. 163,230 to Rs. 166,198. These figures could vary based on the company’s final pricing strategy.
Here’s a look at the estimated updated prices:
- Alto VXR Upgraded: Rs. 2,994,861
- Alto VXR AGS Upgraded: Rs. 3,166,480
- Alto VXL AGS Upgraded: Rs. 3,326,446
- Every VX: Rs. 2,912,230
- Every VXR: Rs. 2,965,198
“Although these estimates highlight a possible Alto price hike, it’s worth noting that Suzuki Alto tax adjustments may not be passed on entirely.”
A new carbon tax of Rs. 2.5 per liter on fuel has also been introduced, further affecting vehicle running costs. The CSL applies as follows: 1% for vehicles up to 1300cc, 2% for 1300–1800cc, and 3% for above 1800cc.
In summary, these changes may push customers toward more eco-friendly options as fuel-powered vehicle prices continue to rise.
