Blast in Bajaur kills at least four, injures 11

On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, a bomb blast struck the Nawagai area in Bajaur district. The explosion killed four people and injured 11 others, police said. The attack targeted a government vehicle near the Siddiqabad railway crossing on Nawagai Road in Khar tehsil.

Among the dead were Faisal Sultan, the Nawagai assistant commissioner, local tehsildar, subedar Noor Hakim, and constable Rashid. The officials were traveling in the vehicle when the blast happened.

Police said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the roadside. The blast was strong enough to cause severe damage to the vehicle and nearby areas.

Rescue teams and security forces rushed to the scene immediately. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of the wounded are in serious condition, according to hospital staff. Four bodies were moved to Khar Hospital for postmortem.

The police have cordoned off the area. They are investigating the exact cause and searching for those responsible. This tragic event has raised concerns about security in the Bajaur region.

Officials expressed their condolences to the families of the victims. They promised to increase safety measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
