Karachi 8 Muharram 2025 Juloos: Check road closures and alternate routes

The 8th Muharram 2025 procession (juloos) in Karachi will take the traditional route from Nishtar Park to Hussainia Iranian Imambargah via MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, Empress Market, and Preedy Street.

To ensure security and smooth flow of traffic, Karachi Traffic Police has announced road closures and alternate routes.

Which Roads Are Closed on 8th Muharram?

• MA Jinnah Road: Closed from Guru Mandir to Tower.

• Saddar, Empress Market, Preedy Street: Sealed with containers and barricades.

• Shops along the route will remain closed.

• Heavy security deployed with police and army on duty.

Karachi 8 Muharram Alternate Routes 2025

For light vehicles:

• Nazimabad to City: Use Lasbela Chowk → Nishtar Road → Garden.

• Liaquatabad: Via Teen Hatti → Lasbela Chowk or Martin Road/Central Jail.

• Hassan Square to PP Chowrangi: Use Kashmir Road → Society Light Signal → Nishtar Road.

• Shahrah-e-Faisal commuters: Turn at Society Light Signal to Kashmir Road.

• Jail Road/Guru Mandir: Take Bahadur Yar Jang Road → Soldier Bazaar.

• Garden area: Use Uncle Saria → Gul Plaza or Coast Guard → Holy Family Hospital.

For heavy vehicles:

• From Super Highway/Gulberg: Use Liaquatabad No.10 → Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2 → Habib Bank Flyover → State Avenue → Sher Shah → Mauripur.

• From National Highway/Shahrah-e-Faisal: Take Stadium Road → Sir Shah Suleman → Hassan Square → Liaquatabad → Sher Shah → Mauripur.

Important Instructions for Muharram 2025

• Only vehicles with official juloos stickers can enter from Shahrah-e-Quaideen (Society Light Signal).

• Sabeel, tabarruk, and niaz vehicles can enter from Tower/Memon Masjid.

• No parking is allowed along the procession route.

• Commuters should avoid MA Jinnah Road, Guru Mandir, Saddar, and Tower areas.

Public holidays have been announced for 9th and 10th Muharram (5-6 July 2025) across Pakistan.
