PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets Iranian President Pezeshkian at 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi

Pakistan PM and Iranian President meet in Azerbaijan, express satisfaction over growing ties
On the sidelines of the 17th ECO Summit held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. They expressed satisfaction over the positive developments following decisions made in their earlier meetings. Both agreed to continue efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
The discussion also covered the increasing regional tensions, especially concerning Israel’s recent unprovoked aggression against Iran. Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Iran’s wise choice to agree to a ceasefire under President Pezeshkian’s leadership, calling it a positive and responsible move.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong solidarity with the Iranian government and people. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Iran to promote peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s firm diplomatic support during the recent crisis. He thanked Pakistan for playing a vital role in reducing tensions at international forums.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his warm congratulations and best wishes to the Iranian Supreme Leader on behalf of the Pakistani government and people.
