08 July, 2025 13:43

A tragic incident has claimed the lives of two teenage boys, Jordan Everett and Joshua Myers, both aged 16, who died on the railway tracks near Poynton Station, Stockport, on the night of Thursday, July 4, 2025.

Emergency services were called around 10:10 PM following reports of casualties on the tracks. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, both boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

Grieving Families Pay Emotional Tributes

In a deeply moving statement, Jordan Everett’s family said: “Our cherished son, grandson, and brother — you were so loved by your family and all who knew you.

Jordan was inquisitive and adventurous and had already begun building his flying hours to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot.

He was loving, loyal, caring, and thoughtful. We will cherish the memories we have of our boy.

We are truly devastated and heartbroken. Our lives will never be the same again.”

Jordan’s dream of becoming a pilot had already taken flight, and his family says they will remember his passion and warmth forever.

Remembering Joshua Myers

Joshua’s parents also released a heartfelt tribute, describing their son as: “Bright, kind, and incredibly precious to us.

He had no idea how loved he was. Our hearts have been broken, and the world seems incomplete without him.

Josh was the best big brother, very thoughtful, intelligent, and full of humour.

He loved running, computer games, badminton, and holidays with his family.

Josh’s close friends meant a lot to him, and he always loved spending time with them.”

No Suspicious Circumstances

The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that the deaths are not being treated as suspicious. A file has been passed to Cheshire Coroner’s Court, and an inquest is expected to open in due course.

A Community in Mourning

The double tragedy has left the local community and schools in deep shock, with tributes pouring in online. Friends, classmates, and neighbors have described the boys as “loving, full of potential, and taken too soon.”

Both families expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying: “Thank you to everyone for the wonderfully kind thoughts and messages.

Thank you also for respecting our privacy at this very sad time.”
