Prize Bond winners to face new tax rates - July 2025
The federal government has announced an increase in withholding tax rates on winning amount of prize bonds and profit on debt, according to an official notification.”
The new tax rates will be enforced starting July 2025, following the implementation of the budget for the new fiscal year.
Revised Tax Rates for Prize Bond Winners
According to the official notification:
- Filers will now pay a 15% withholding tax on their prize bond winnings.
- Non-filers will be taxed at a higher rate of 30%.

Tax on Profit from Debt Instruments
In addition to prize bonds, the withholding tax on profit from debt instruments has also been revised:
- Filers will be charged 15% tax.
- Non-filers will face 30% tax.
“This move is part of the government’s broader strategy to expand the tax net and encourage more individuals to file their tax returns.”
Officials believe this policy will boost revenue collection and promote a more documented economy.
Upcoming 750 Prize Bond Draw – July 15, 2025
The National Savings Centre in Rawalpindi will hold the third draw of Rs. 750 prize bonds on July 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Prize Details:
- First Prize: Rs. 1,500,000 (1 winner)
- Second Prize: Rs. 500,000 (3 winners)
Third Prize: Rs. 9,300 (1,696 winners)
Prize winners can redeem their winnings at National Savings branches. Prize bonds remain a safe investment option in Pakistan, offering the chance to win while keeping money easily accessible.
Recent Winners of Rs. 750 Prize Bond
In the second draw held in April 2025:
- First Prize of Rs. 1,500,000 was won by bond number 261227.
- Second Prizes of Rs. 500,000 each went to 204763, 413549, and 992747.
The government aims to continue prize bond draws as an incentive for saving and investment.
