Who Is Harjit Singh Laddi? Man Behind Kapil Sharma Café Shooting in Canada

A shocking incident occurred in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, when gunshots were fired at comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly launched café, Kap’s Café. The glass front of the café was damaged, but luckily no one was injured.

Soon after the attack, Harjit Singh Laddi claimed responsibility for the firing. He posted a video online, saying he ordered the shooting because of remarks made on The Kapil Sharma Show that he found offensive toward Nihang Sikhs.

• Around 1:50 AM (local time) on July 9, a man in a moving car opened fire at Kap’s Café.

• Videos from the scene show bullets shattering the café’s glass windows.

• No staff or customers were hurt, as the café was closed at the time.

• The incident happened just days after the soft launch of the café on social media.

The café team released a statement: “We are processing the shock, but we are not giving up.”

Harjit Singh Laddi, also known as Harjeet Singh Laddi, is a foreign-based Khalistani and one of India’s most wanted terrorists.

Laddi is accused of:

• Murdering VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar (alias Vikas Bagga) in April 2024, Punjab.

• Supporting violent separatist movements in Punjab.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against him and BKI chief Wadhawa Singh under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Why Was Kapil Sharma Targeted?

Laddi said the attack was due to jokes made on The Kapil Sharma Show about Nihang Sikhs. He also accused Kapil’s team of ignoring warnings sent through social media and phone calls demanding an apology.
