Man Sues Karachi Restaurant for Denying Entry Over Shalwar Kameez

Karachi Restaurant Shalwar Kameez Sues
KARACHI — A resident has filed a complaint in the consumer court against a restaurant in DHA Karachi Phase 8, claiming he was denied entry because he was wearing shalwar kameez.
Advocate Latif Baloch said he visited the restaurant with friends on May 18 but was refused entry due to the restaurant’s policy against traditional clothing.
Baloch argued in his petition that shalwar kameez is Pakistan’s national dress and that banning it is discriminatory and unacceptable.
He has asked the court to order the restaurant to issue a formal apology and pay a fine of Rs 1 million.
The consumer court has scheduled the hearing for July 14. The restaurant has not yet responded to the complaint.
