85% of KP Residents OKAY with Federal Government: Gallup Survey

15 July, 2025 15:56

ISLAMABAD — A recent Gallup Pakistan survey reveals that the majority of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) want their provincial government to work with the federal government rather than take part in protests.

The survey, conducted between February and March 2025 with 3,000 respondents, found that 85% of KP residents support cooperation with the federal administration for better development. Only 10% opposed this, and 5% did not respond.

Support for working with the federal government was strong across political parties, with 86% of PTI voters, 93% of PML-N supporters, 87% of JUI-F backers, and 86% of ANP voters in favor.

While 60% of people consider protests against the federal government a valid way to push for change, more than half (53%) said they would not join upcoming PTI-led protests. Around 40% planned to participate.

The survey also showed mixed opinions on leadership. Half of the respondents said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is performing better than KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, while 39% favored Gandapur.

Almost half of the people (47%) want Gandapur to be replaced, but 40% support him. Additionally, 53% expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s efforts to fight corruption, and 49% are unhappy about job opportunities.

Most respondents were satisfied with health services (64%) and access to clean water (64%), while 62% approved of education facilities. However, many were unhappy with other amenities like libraries (81%), parks (77%), community centers (70%), and gas supply (66%).

The survey also highlighted regional disparities, showing that southern districts like DI Khan lag behind in facilities compared to other areas.

Overall, the survey reflects a public desire for better governance and development in KP, with strong support for working with the federal government but also a willingness to use protests strategically when needed.
