BISP accounts blocked? Here’s why and how to fix it

BISP 8171 September 2025: Rs. 13,500 payment announced for Rajanpur
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has been a big help for women across Pakistan. It gives financial support to help manage household expenses. But recently, many women are facing a new problem — their BISP accounts are getting blocked because of “inactivity.”
Let’s explain why this is happening and how you can keep your account active.
Why Are BISP Accounts Being Blocked?
If you don’t collect your BISP payments for two or more times in a row, the system thinks you don’t need the money anymore. That’s why it freezes or blocks your account.
This is not a technical error — it’s how the system is designed.
Common Account Block Messages
If your account is blocked, you might see these messages:
Category 1 (NSER) – Your record is in the national survey database.
Blocked by Bank (SBP) – The State Bank has temporarily blocked your account.
Regulator Blocked – Your account was stopped due to system rules.
ATC – Your account is under review.
LNL Prohibited – You can’t make transactions because of no activity for a long time.
These messages may sound complicated, but they all mean the same thing: your account hasn’t been used for a while.
Why Some Women Don’t Withdraw Money
Many women don’t withdraw their payments regularly because:
- They don’t know when the money arrives.
- It’s hard for them to visit the ATM or payment center.
- Health or family issues stop them from going out.
- They think the money will stay safe in the account.
But sadly, the system doesn’t understand these reasons. If the funds are left for too long, the system assumes you don’t need them and stops future payments.
What You Should Do
To avoid problems, follow these steps:
Withdraw Your Funds on Time
Always take out your money as soon as it is available, even if you don’t plan to spend it yet.
Check Your Status Regularly
Send your CNIC number to 8171 (free SMS service) to check your account and payment details.
Visit the Nearest BISP Office
If your account is blocked or showing strange messages, visit your nearest BISP center. Take your original CNIC with you.
Help Others
Share this information with other women in your area so they can keep their accounts active too.
