How to avail discount on LESCO bills over Rs25,000?

18 July, 2025 20:05

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced that domestic electricity users with bills over Rs25,000 will now pay an extra 7.5% tax as per government orders.

However, people who are tax filers can avoid paying this tax. To get exemption, filers must send their CNIC number and electricity reference number to the Power Information Technology Company.

This move is part of the government’s plan to encourage tax filing and give relief to verified filers. LESCO has asked customers to register quickly to avoid extra charges.

How to Apply for Tax Exemption

  • Send your CNIC and reference number to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) via SMS at 8118.

  • Only those registered as tax filers will get the exemption.

LESCO provides electricity in Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Sheikhupura districts.

New App for Meter Reading

To make billing more transparent, the government has launched a mobile app called “Apna Meter, Apni Reading”.

  • Consumers can upload a photo of their electricity meter reading on a set date.

  • The system will use the lower reading (either yours or the meter reader’s) to calculate the bill.

  • If you submit your reading on time, the meter reader’s reading will be ignored.

This app supports five languages and is very useful for customers getting government subsidies.
