Denise Richards has come forward with allegations of domestic violence against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. In a court filing, the Wild Things actress detailed several instances of physical and verbal abuse throughout their marriage, which began in September 2018. The court has since granted her a temporary restraining order.
Shocking Allegations Detailed in Court
Richards alleged that Phypers frequently assaulted her, including choking, slapping, and slamming her head into objects. She claimed he would “violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me.”
She also accused him of threatening to break her jaw and provided photographic evidence of injuries, including a swollen face, along with detailed accounts of violent episodes. In one instance, on July 4, she said Phypers came within two inches of her face and verbally abused her. When she threatened to call the police, she claimed he responded, “I would like to see the cops take me away; I will blow everything up if they try.”
Phypers Denies All Allegations
Aaron Phypers responded to the allegations in a statement to People, denying all claims. “Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone,” he stated. “These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful.”
He acknowledged that their marriage had challenges but insisted that any suggestion of abuse is “categorically untrue.” Phypers also requested privacy while they handle the situation, noting he filed for divorce on July 4 due to “irreconcilable differences.”
