KARACHI – NADRA is launching three new registration centres in Karachi to improve services and reduce crowding. The centres will be located in Malir Cantonment, Malir, and Surjani Town, said NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali.
New rules now require children’s photos on B-Forms and Child Registration Certificates (CRCs):
Under 3 years: Old-style CRCs without photos remain valid.
3 to 10 years: CRCs with photo and biometric data now required.
10 to 18 years: A new CRC will be mandatory.
All previously issued B-Forms are valid, but passports cannot be issued using the old form. Each child must now have their own B-Form.
Other updates include:
Birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates can still be issued by Union Councils.
Family Registration Certificates (FRCs) are now legal documents and can be used for inheritance and other legal matters. Errors in FRCs can be corrected via the NADRA app.
Married women can choose to list either their father’s or husband’s name on their ID cards.
Those with illegally obtained NADRA IDs can now return them voluntarily and avoid legal action.
NADRA is investigating corrupt officials, including former chairpersons, warning that there will be zero tolerance for corruption.
These reforms aim to streamline national ID processes, enhance transparency, and better serve the public.
