BISP’s role in youth growth: Training, jobs, and new ideas

BISP’s role in youth growth: Training, jobs, and new ideas
Over half of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 30. That means our future depends on the success of our youth. But many young people—especially in poor or rural areas—don’t get the tools or chances they need to grow.
To change this, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is now focusing on youth training and empowerment, not just financial help. This step is helping young people learn useful skills and find jobs—or even start their own businesses.
What Skills Are Being Taught?
BISP’s training programs focus on real-life skills that help young people earn money. These include:
Computer and typing skills
Mobile phone repair, plumbing, electrician work
Sewing, embroidery, and handicrafts
Basic nursing and health support
Language skills for overseas jobs
Freelancing and digital work
Courses are designed based on what employers need, so students have a better chance of getting hired.
Who Can Join?
The programs are for young men and women (ages 18–35) from low-income families already registered with BISP. Students get:
Free training
Monthly stipends
Learning materials
This support helps students continue learning without worrying about money.
What Happens After Training?
Once training is done, BISP helps youth take the next step:
Job Matching: Linking students with companies
Internships: Real work experience
Overseas Jobs: For skills like nursing or language support
This increases confidence and chances of earning well.
Encouraging Young Entrepreneurs
Not everyone wants a job—some want to be their own boss. BISP supports these youth by teaching them how to:
Start tailoring or repair businesses
Run food stalls or delivery services
Earn online through freelancing or digital sales
They also learn how to manage money and deal with customers.
Digital Skills for the Future
BISP is also preparing youth for the digital world. New courses include:
Office software
Internet safety
Web design basics
Freelancing platforms
With these skills, young people can work from home, earn online, or serve clients across the world.
Complete Support System
What makes BISP different is its full support system. It offers:
Financial help during training
Career counseling and mentorship
Centers in both cities and villages
Help for families—like school support for siblings or healthcare for mothers
This makes it easier for youth to stay focused and succeed.
Building a Stronger Community
These training centers become more than just classrooms. They are places where young people meet, share ideas, and build confidence. This sense of community helps them stay motivated.
BISP’s youth programs are giving young Pakistanis the tools, skills, and support they need to take control of their future—whether that means getting a good job or starting their own business.
