Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for the fifth spell of monsoon rains, expected to begin on July 28.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, most districts across the province are likely to experience rainfall during this period.
The forecast indicates the possibility of urban and flash flooding, along with landslides in several areas. Specific cities expected to receive rainfall include Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Gujranwala.
DG PDMA has warned that the heavy rains pose a significant risk of landslides, particularly in Murree and Galiyat. Additionally, vulnerable and dilapidated houses may face damage due to the adverse weather conditions.
In response, all commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been directed to remain vigilant. Emergency control rooms and Rescue 1122 disaster response teams have been placed on high alert to manage any potential emergencies.
