Pezeshkian Pays Homage to National Poet Allama Iqbal
On the first day of his two-day visit to Pakistan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the Mazar-e-Iqbal to pay his respects to national poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Accompanied by senior Pakistani officials, President Pezeshkian laid a wreath at the foot of the white marble tomb in Lahore’s Hazuri Bagh, observed a moment of silence, and recited verses of Iqbal’s poetry. He noted Iqbal’s messages of unity, self-awareness, and moral strength as an inspiration for today’s youth in both Iran and Pakistan.
Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman and Information Minister Atta Tarar joined the ceremony. Minister Tarar said, “Allama Iqbal’s vision transcends borders. We are honored that President Pezeshkian chose to begin his visit here.”
The visit to Mazar-e-Iqbal underscores the shared cultural heritage of Iran and Pakistan and sets a respectful tone for the high-level talks scheduled in Islamabad tomorrow.
