Flood Risk Rises in Karachi as Roads Turn into Ponds After Little Rain
Islamabad – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide warning for heavy rain and possible flooding from August 4 to August 7.
According to the forecast, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to witness widespread heavy rainfall during this period, with a possibility of flash floods in mountainous regions. The Meteorological Department has predicted intense rain spells in Punjab and Islamabad as well, from August 4 to 7.
Meanwhile, Balochistan and Sindh are expected to receive heavy downpours on August 6, which may result in urban flooding in low-lying areas. Due to the persistent rainfall, there is a significant risk of flooding in rivers, streams, and canals across the country.
The department has urged the public and concerned authorities to take precautionary measures and remain on high alert, especially in flood-prone and vulnerable areas.
