Pakistan Railways Denies Attack on Jaffer Express

Pakistan Railways has denied reports of a direct attack on the Quetta-to-Peshawar Jaffer Express, clarifying that all passengers are safe and the train has resumed its journey after a temporary halt.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore, a pilot engine was dispatched ahead of the train for a routine security check. At around 10:00 AM, the pilot engine came under gunfire, with three shots reportedly fired.

The Jaffer Express was immediately stopped at a secure location following the incident to ensure the safety of passengers. Once security teams gave clearance, the train continued its route without further incident.

Officials confirmed that no passenger was harmed, and the pilot engine returned safely.

In a separate incident around 10:20 AM, an explosion damaged three coaches of the Jaffer Express near Sultan Kot and Abad stations in Jacobabad. According to railway officials, the blast occurred just as the train was passing over the section of the track.

The explosion caused derailment of three carriages and led to multiple passengers sustaining injuries, though no fatalities were reported. The train traffic was immediately suspended, and emergency teams rushed to the scene for rescue and recovery efforts.

Train Services Temporarily Suspended

Due to the incident and ongoing security operations, train movement on the affected route has been temporarily suspended. Pakistan Railways officials say repair work and investigations are ongoing, and normal service will resume once the area is secured.

The department has also reiterated its commitment to passenger safety, stating that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being followed and additional security protocols are in place across the railway network.
