Pakistan likely to have 4-day holiday in August

Govt announces public holiday on August 15
People in Pakistan are expected to enjoy four consecutive holidays in August 2025, thanks to Independence Day and Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) falling just before the weekend.
According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, Thursday, August 14 will be a public holiday to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. The Chehlum, which is the 40th day after Ashura, will fall on Friday, August 15.
Although Chehlum is not an official federal holiday this year, local governments are likely to announce holidays in major cities like Karachi and Rawalpindi, just as they did last year.
With Saturday and Sunday (August 16–17) following these important days, people will get a 4-day break from Thursday to Sunday.
Authorities have also been asked to increase security during this time to ensure that celebrations and religious processions are held peacefully.
