Earthquake Tremors Jolt Peshawar, Islamabad, and Surrounding Areas
Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Peshawar, Islamabad, and the surrounding areas.
According to the Seismological Center, the shocks were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Batkhela, D.I. Khan, Haripur, Malakand, and nearby regions. The quake registered a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.
The Seismological Center stated that the earthquake measured 5.2 in magnitude, had a depth of 190 kilometers, and its epicenter was the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Due to the quake, people in many cities recited the Kalma Tayyaba (Islamic declaration of faith) while rushing out of offices and homes. No immediate reports of casualties have been received.
