PM offers full support to Sindh amid heavy rains
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif telephoned Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and offered full federal assistance to deal with the situation caused by heavy rains in Karachi and other parts of the province.
The Prime Minister assured that the federal government will extend all possible help to the Sindh government during the emergency. He directed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to stay in constant contact with provincial authorities and ensure full cooperation regarding relief requirements.
The NDMA chief has also been instructed to remain fully prepared for any emergency in the southern districts of Sindh where more downpours are expected.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired an emergency meeting after the Met Office forecast more monsoon showers in Karachi and other parts of the province. The CM directed all local bodies, administration, and traffic police to remain on high alert and stressed the need for stronger coordination between departments to manage the situation.
