CDA launches real-time bus tracking on Google Maps

22 August, 2025 15:08

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced real-time bus tracking on Google Maps through its new CDA Mobile App. With this service, people in Islamabad and Rawalpindi can now check bus routes, stops, and schedules directly on their phones, making travel easier and more reliable.

According to CDA officials, the system covers both metro buses and electric feeder buses. Electric buses, which started running in July 2024, now operate on 13 routes, including Faizabad to NUST, PIMS to Bari Imam, Police Lines to D-12, and Aabpara to Tramri. On weekends, tourist buses also run from PIMS to Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian for visitors.

The metro bus service is also fully linked with the app. The Red Line runs from Saddar to Pak Secretariat, the Orange Line connects Peshawar Mor with Islamabad International Airport, the Green Line operates from Bhara Kahu to PIMS, the Blue Line runs from Gulberg to Faizabad, and the Purple Line connects Taramri with Aabpara. Together, these routes form the main transport network of the twin cities.

With real-time tracking, passengers can see bus arrival times, find the nearest stop, and plan their trips more easily. CDA says this step will not only make travel convenient but also help reduce traffic and pollution by encouraging more people to use public transport.

The CDA Mobile App is available on both Android and iOS, and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
