WhatsApp to Introduce New Voicemail-Style Feature for Missed Calls

WhatsApp becomes most used social media in Pakistan: IPOR report
WhatsApp is rolling out a new voicemail-like feature that will allow users to send instant voice notes after missed calls. The update is designed to make communication easier and ensure that important messages are not lost when calls go unanswered.
According to reports, the feature is currently being tested in the WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.25.23.21). With this option, users can record a short voice message immediately after a missed call. A shortcut appears at the bottom of the calling screen, allowing users to leave a message without switching back to the chat window.
The same shortcut also shows up in the chat where the missed call occurred, providing a seamless and context-aware experience. While WhatsApp already supports voice messages, this prompt acts as a quick reminder, encouraging timely responses.
In addition to voicemail, WhatsApp is also experimenting with missed call reminder notifications. This feature lets users schedule reminders for unanswered calls, with preset intervals tailored to their routine. At the chosen time, WhatsApp sends a notification with the caller’s name, profile picture, and a direct link to chat.
Together, these features aim to give users more flexibility in managing calls and staying connected. The voicemail option adds convenience, while reminders ensure no important call slips through the cracks.
Although still limited to beta testers, the new updates reflect WhatsApp’s ongoing focus on making communication faster, more reliable, and more user-friendly. A wider release is expected once testing concludes.
