Khawaja Asif Slams PTI for “Double Standards” in Elections
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has criticized Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), saying the party is ready to contest elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) because it has its own government there, but is avoiding polls in Punjab due to fear of defeat.
In his statement, Khawaja Asif said PTI is comfortable in KP where it can influence results through the provincial government, but in Punjab, where people’s vote would decide freely, the party is running away from elections. He said this shows that PTI only wants elections where victory is certain, and where defeat is clear, it chooses boycott.
The Defence Minister accused PTI of relying on rigging in KP while lacking the courage to face the public verdict in Punjab. He added that this is not real democracy but a game fixed in their favor.
According to him, PTI does not seek power through people’s trust but through the use of state machinery, which he called a clear example of double standards in politics.
