UAE Declares Three-Day Holiday for Eid Miladun Nabi 2025
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a three-day paid holiday for private sector employees on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, PBUH), which falls on Friday, September 5, 2025.
The declaration comes in line with an earlier announcement for government workers, giving employees across both the public and private sectors a long weekend from Friday to Sunday.
The Emirates Astronomical Center confirmed that the crescent for Rabiul Awwal was not sighted on August 23, meaning the month of Safar completed 30 days and Rabiul Awwal began on August 25. Based on this calculation, the 12th of Rabiul Awwal falls on September 5 this year.
This year also brings a rare difference in observance dates between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as Saudi authorities declared the start of Rabiul Awwal a day earlier.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Eid Miladun Nabi will be observed on September 6, 2025, with a nationwide public holiday.
