Who is Lam Wai Hong? Biography of Macau’s Pai Leader

Lam Wai Hong, also called Pai leader, grew up in Macau with a strong love for music. He first picked up the guitar when he was only 15 years old. Founding of Diwa Music

In 2019, Lam Wai Hong started Diwa Music, a small but special learning center for electronic music in Macau. The studio is located on the third floor of the Centro Comercial Teatro Capitol. Even though it is just about 36 square meters in size, it is filled with DJ decks, lights, and sound equipment that feel like a real festival stage.

Diwa gives training in DJing, producing, and live music performance. Many of these lessons are supported by government funds, so young people in Macau can join without heavy costs. His dream was to make electronic music easy to learn and fun for everyone.

Teaching and Public Role

On December 1, 2023, Lam gave a workshop at the University of Macau’s Moon Chun Memorial College. The session was called “Electronic Music and Its Possibilities.” He explained the journey of music from traditional instruments to digital production. Students were able to try MIDI controllers and learn how electronic sounds are made.

Lam is not only a teacher but also a cultural guide. He has worked as a curator for kids’ DJ parties and different music workshops. He believes children and young people should have the chance to play, mix, and explore music with modern tools.
