Israel Claims Hamas Spokesman Abu Ubaida Killed in Gaza Strike

TEL AVIV– Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Saturday claimed that Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida has been killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza.

According to Arab media reports, Abu Ubaida was the official spokesman for Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. Palestinian sources told Al Arabiya that he was martyred in an Israeli attack earlier today.

Before the announcement by the defense minister, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a government meeting that Abu Ubaida had been targeted and killed. However, Hamas has not confirmed his death.

The Israeli military had earlier said that its forces struck the Hamas spokesman in Gaza City.

Meanwhile, Gaza health authorities reported that at least 88 Palestinians were killed and 421 wounded in the past 24 hours due to Israeli airstrikes.
